We believe that maintaining a pain free and healthy mouth is vital as part of an ongoing commitment to a general healthy lifestyle. The NHS provides a good quality basic service to enable you to do this, however it is important to note that there are many differences between NHS dentistry and what is available privately.
It is important to realise that there are many more treatment options to choose from privately and that the NHS is not a cosmetic service, it only provides dental procedures enabling maintenance of good oral health. Your dentist would be happy to answer any questions you might have, in order for you to make a clear and informed choice on what treatment types you prefer.
Dentistry is one of very few NHS services that you have to pay a contribution towards. The section below explains the current NHS charges. All the treatment that your dentist believes is necessary to achieve and maintain good oral health is available on the NHS. This means that the NHS provides any treatment you need to keep your mouth, teeth and gums healthy and free of pain.
Depending on what you need to have done, you should only ever be asked to pay one charge for each complete course of treatment, even if you need to visit your dentist more than once to finish it. You will not be charged for individual items within the course of treatment.
Further information on Dental Charges can be found here.
See the link below for a list of dental treatments in each band and more detailed information on NHS dentistry. Find out more about whats available on the NHS.
You may get free NHS dental treatment if you meet certain criteria. For more information, read about help with dental costs.
We would be grateful if you would note that repeatedly arriving late for your treatment sessions or failure to attend appointments may result in early termination of the course of treatment.
